Doctor of Philosophy Program in Human Movement Sciences

International Program

Admission Requirements
   
 

Type 1.1 (a 3-year full time program with a maximum duration of 6 years)
Applicants must have the following qualifications:

     Hold a Master’s degree in any field approved by the Program Executive Committee.  If the Master’s degree is in a specialization other than health sciences, the applicant will be asked to complete certain prerequisites as recommended by the major advisor.

    Have a grade point average of not less than 3.25.

    Have an evidence of English proficiency with the TOEFL (paper-based) score of at least 500 or at least 173 (computer-based), IELTS (academic module) score of at least 5.5, or pass the English Proficiency Test held by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Khon Kaen University.  Evidence of English proficiency profile must be no longer than 2 years after the testing date.

    If the applicant fails to meet any of the above qualifications, admission to the program requires an approval of the Program Executive Committee.
   
 

Type 1.2 (a 4-year full time program with a maximum duration of 8 years)
Applicants are required to hold the following qualifications:

    Hold a Bachelor’s degree in any field approved by the Program Executive Committee.  If the Bachelor’s degree is in a specialization other than health sciences, the applicant will be asked to complete certain prerequisites as recommended by the major advisor.

    Have a grade point average of at least 3.25.

    Have experience in research study with paper presentation (oral or poster) or research publication in a peer review journal; and have a research proposal which could be developed into a dissertation.

    Have an evidence of English proficiency with the TOEFL (paper-based) score of at least 500 or at least 173 (computer-based), IELTS (academic module) score of at least 5.5, TU-GET score of no less than 550, CU-TEP score of no less than 70, or pass an examination by Khon Kaen University.  Evidence of English proficiency must be no longer than 2 years after testing date.

    If the applicant fails to meet any of the above qualifications, the admission to the program requires an approval of the Program Executive Committee.
   

Curriculum

   
  The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Human Movement Sciences emphasizes in research requiring novel knowledge and high academic competency.  The program has 2 types of curriculum; for students holding a Master’s degree (Type 1.1) and for students holding a Bachelor’s degree (Type 1.2) The students are required to pass a qualifying examination within the first semester of the first year, to be qualified as a PhD. candidate and  can proceed to conduct  dissertation.
   
1.1 Total Credit Hours

Type 1.1 Program requires a total of 48 credits for the dissertation.   Other courses may be enrolled on request of the major advisor.
Type 1.2 Program requires a total of 72 credits for the dissertation.  Other courses may be enrolled on request of the major advisor.
